More details about Highland Walloon’s first local park have been unveiled, showcasing a vibrant green space where residents and the wider community can come together to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.
Designed as a key component of Highland’s central green spine, the park will combine active play, shaded gathering spaces and generous green areas in a welcoming setting at the heart of the community.
Works are now well advanced with this first park expected to open for fun in the first half of 2026.
All ages have been considered. A large play structure will provide challenges and adventure for older children, while a dedicated toddler area will feature age-appropriate equipment in an engaging environment. Swings, including a maxi swing, and a trike path with playful road markings will foster healthy play and movement.
For older children, teenagers and adults, the park will include a half basketball court for casual games and social connection. Nearby shelters and picnic settings will provide comfortable places to relax, watch the kids play or enjoy a picnic with family and friends.
More than 40 feature trees will provide shade as they mature, supported by extensive planting of shrubs, grasses and groundcovers selected for both visual appeal and durability. A mix of turf and low-maintenance planting areas will create pleasant open spaces.
The park also includes a dedicated native revegetation area using species drawn from the local regional ecosystem, reinforcing a strong connection to the natural landscape of the Walloon area. It links to the larger linear parkland running through the centre of Highland Walloon and adjoins existing mature vegetation that is being retained and enhanced.
Lennium Group Development Manager Ian Worthington said the park had been carefully planned to support everyday life at Highland Walloon.
“This park is about creating a space residents will use regularly – whether that’s a quick visit after school, a casual kick of the footy, or a place to meet friends on the weekend,” he said.
“We wanted something practical, welcoming and inclusive, with facilities that appeal to different ages and stages of life.”
As Highland Walloon continues to take shape, the first local park will serve as an early focal point for the community.
“We’ve been very conscious of creating a park that feels established over time and reflects its surroundings because parks like this set the tone for a community,” Ian said.
“This is a place where memories will be made, friendships will form, and people will really start to feel at home at Highland Walloon.”
