There’s a lot happening on the roads around Highland Walloon as we continue investing in the infrastructure that will support this growing region and improve connectivity and safety for the local community.
Lennium Group has constructed a new section of Taylors Road between our Highland Walloon community and Thagoona Haigslea Road, replacing a previous flood-prone dirt road section further south. The new Taylors Road is now open under traffic control.
The works also include the creation of new intersections at Taylors Road and Thagoona Haigslea Road, and at Thagoona Haigslea Road and Caledonian Road, replacing a previously dangerous four-way intersection with a T junction.
Currently, the section of Thagoona Haigslea Road between these intersections is temporarily closed, allowing our civil contractor to undertake significant works including a much-needed new stormwater culvert.
We understand this closure is inconvenient for local residents, families and other road users and appreciate everyone’s patience while this important work is completed.
However, once all works are completed, the upgrades will create a safer, flood free and efficient connection for current and future residents on Taylors Road.
Lennium Group Development Director Ian Worthington said the works represented a significant investment in infrastructure that would provide lasting benefits for both Highland Walloon and the surrounding community.
“We know roadworks and temporary closures can be frustrating, particularly for people who travel these roads every day, and we genuinely appreciate the patience of the local community while the work is underway,” Ian said.
“There’s a substantial amount of work involved in delivering this new connection, including major stormwater and intersection infrastructure, but the end result will be a much better road network for the area.
“The new section of Taylors Road through to Highland Walloon is an example of the standard we’re working towards, and we’re looking forward to seeing the complete connections to Thagoona Haigslea Road open to traffic.”
While traffic management and detours are in place, motorists are asked to follow all traffic signage and allow additional travel time.
Thank you again to our neighbours and the wider Walloon and Thagoona communities for your patience while these works continue. We’ll keep you updated as the project progresses.
